CVS~ Questions and Answers!

What is an Extra Care Buck (ECB)? It is a coupon that will print at the bottom of your receipt after you make a purchase of an item that has an attached Extra Care Buck deal with it. You will be able to use this coupon on almost any purchase in the store (with some exclusions like gift cards, alcohol, cigarettes, phone cards, stamps, etc).

What is a CRT? CRT means cash register tape. It is a store coupon that will print either at the bottom of your receipt after you buy something or it will print from the price scanner when you scan your Extra Care Card. Since these are store coupons, they can be combined with manuf coupons. CRT coupons will state a particular product like "$1 off any haircare item" or "$2 off Glade Lasting Impressions".

How will I know if an item should print an Extra Care Buck? There are weekly Extra Care Buck deals and monthly Extra Care Bucks deals. The weekly deals are advertised in the store ad and the monthly deals SHOULD have shelf tags throughout the store. However, many stores do not put the tags up so you will want to check either my site or forums like weusecoupons to find a list of monthly deals.

Can I use a manuf coupon on an item and still get the Extra Care Buck to print? Yes, the coupon should not affect whether the Extra Care Buck prints or not.

Can I use an Extra Care Buck to pay for an item that will print an Extra Care Buck? Yes as long as the limit is more than one, you can "roll" the one Extra Care Buck into the next item. For example, if the limit is 2 on a deal and you buy 1 shampoo for $4 and get a $4 Extra Care Buck, you can buy the second shampoo and use the $4 Extra Care Buck to pay and get another $4 ECB to print (this is different than Walgreen's).

Can I use an Extra Care Buck for $3 to pay for a $2.99 item? Yes, the Extra Care Buck says "up to $3" which means it can be adjusted down to the amount of the subtotal (this is different than Walgreen's). It can not cover your tax.

Can I buy one item and use a manuf coupon and an Extra Care Buck to pay for it? Yes, you can use a manuf coupon and as many Extra Care Bucks as you want to pay for an item (this is different than Walgreen's)

Will CVS accept expired Extra Care Bucks? This varies from store to store. Some stores will take them no matter how expired they are, some say one week, some say 24 hours and some say none at all.

What should I do if my Extra Care Bucks didn't print? Let the cashier know and they can manually print an Extra Care Buck for you.

How many Extra Care cards can I have? The Extra Care program says "one per household", however, most families have one per person in the household. Use your best judgement on this.

Can I use an Extra Care Buck that I received from one Extra Care card to pay for an item when using another Extra Care card? No, the Extra Care Bucks are tied to an individual card and must be used only when you use that card.

What does Limit 2 mean? Every Extra Care Buck deal will have a limit attached to it. This is how many times the Extra Care Buck will print when you buy that item. So if I deal says Limit 2, you can buy 2 of that item and get the Extra Care Buck to print. You can buy them either together or in separate transactions. If you buy them at the same time, the Extra Care Buck that prints will be the combined total of the amounts. For example, if you buy 2 toothpastes together that will get a $2 ECB on each one, a $4 ECB will print.

Other CVS Q&As:

Can I use a $2 manuf coupon on an item that only costs $1.99? Yes, CVS can adjust down manuf coupons.

Is there a certain order I should hand over my coupons? It really doesn't matter at CVS (this is different than Walgreen's)

What does the limit on a sale (non Extra Care Buck deal) mean? This is how many you can buy PER TRANSACTION for it to ring up at the sale price. You can pay and then do another transaction if you want more than the limit at the sale price.

We're Having a Poopy Party Today !

Okay, at the risk of all of you thinking I'm a bigger dork that you already do I have to tell all of you about our plans today.  We are having a poopy party to celebrate that both of the girls are finally potty trained!

One of the twins (Olivia) has been potty trained for 6 months or so, but her sister Kayla would not go poop on the potty. I tried EVERYTHING to get her to go.  I promised her lip gloss, anything she wanted at our local convenience store, ballet class (I told her you can't go poo poo in a tu tu LOL) and finally a party to celebrate her achievement -he he.  It's been a LONG wait, but finally we now have success.

Wouldn't you  know that Kayla is calling in all of my promises. She remembers EVERYTHING I promised.  We've done everything except for ballet class and the party, so today is the day.  We joked and said we would have a "brown" party and serve brown foods like hamburgers, brownies and chocolate milk so that's what we're doing.  We are inviting their cousins to come celebrate and will be playing pin the poopy on the potty (paper versions of course).

Have any of you ever done anything like this or am I the only insane mom out here??  What are your plans for today? I'll be posting more deals throughout the day and maybe pictures of the party later on.  I made all kinds of decorations and fun things to do.  More on that later ...

*HOT* FREE Fandango Movie Ticket (up to $14 value) + $4.99 Movie Tickets Every Month!

Just in time for the weekend~ This deal is back!
Wanna score a FREE ticket to a movie at a Fandango Theatre up to $14 in value (even an IMAX or 3D movie) and score $4.99 movie tickets on a monthly basis?! Here’s what you need to do…
* Head on over to Weekly Cinema and register with your name, email address, and phone number.

* You will then be required to input your credit card information (the reason for this is that you are signing up for a monthly service, so your credit card is required to be on file if you decide to continue with the monthly subscription; however, you CAN cancel at anytime within the 3 day trial period and your card will not be charged).
* Once your card has been entered, you will receive a message that you have successfully registered; You will then immediately be emailed a unique Fandango Movie code that you can use to purchase a ticket on Fandango.com up to a $14 value (keep in mind this code can only be used to purchase one ticket, so be sure to treat yourself to a 3D or IMAX movie to utilize the full value of the code!)

* If you want to continue with this monthly service, you will be charged $14.97 per month and in return, you will receive 3 unique Fandango movie codes each month to purchase a FREE ticket on Fandango.com– up to a $14 value…this means you are only paying $4.99 per movie ticket! Plus, each code is good for 3 months so you’ll have plenty of time to use them. How sweet is that?!

*If you decide that this service is not for you, then you can cancel your membership immediately by logging into your Weekly Cinema account or by sending an email to support@weeklycinema.mojohelpdesk.com (keep in kind that if you opt to cancel, the movie coupon codes that you have received will stop working). Your FREE trial period is good for 3 days and if you do not send an e-mail notice of cancellation at least one day prior to the conclusion of the trial period, then you will be automatically be billed the monthly $14.97 fee.

* Your monthly tickets are available at the beginning of each month, so you just need to log in to Weekly Cinema to redeem them…they will not send you a reminder email.

**My recommendation -- Use your free ticket to go see Inception (INCREDIBLE MOVIE)

Sign your children up for the KMart Birthday Club and they’ll get a $5 Birthday Bucks to use at KMart plus a birthday fun pack with surprise goodies.

$0.75/2 Taco Bell Home Originals = free or cheap taco seasoning

There’s a hot new coupon available for $0.75/2 Taco Bell Home Originals products. While not quite a great as the $1/2 coupon available last month, it should still net some good deals.

Walmart has Taco Bell taco seasoning regularly priced at $0.50 per packet, making them 2 for $0.25 after this coupon. You can also score some fairly good deals on taco sauce, taco shells and refried beans.

If your store doubles $0.75 coupons, you should be able to get taco seasoning for free.

Target: Black Friday in July

You will notice some great sales in the next few weeks. Did you know that many companies often decide what to buy for the holidays as early as January! So back in January economic forecasts were much stronger than they are now. Companies ordered for the upcoming back to school and holiday season according to those economic forecasts. Now, they are having second thoughts (per the Associated Press).

So Target.com is having a Black Friday in July, today, July 23rd.
You can check it out the the Black Friday Sale here. The prices don't seem as good as Black Friday to me, but maybe you will see a good deal on something you've been looking for.

Income-Earning Ideas

Entrepreneurialism is something I’m passionate about. I believe moms can contribute to their family greatly not only by saving money, but by looking for creative ways to earn money from home.  There are so many different things you can do. Here are just a few ideas — most of which I’ve personally done:

1. Take Surveys

You won’t get rich taking surveys, but you can certainly earn a little side income — usually something like $25-$50 per week. A few of my favorite survey companies are:

Synovate — This site gives you 50 points for screeners — even if you don’t qualify for a survey! I just joined this site, but I've been hearing from readers who love it all day long today!

LightSpeed Research — This survey site pays in points and they are fairly generous in their points given. Once you’ve accumulated enough points, you can cash them in for cash, online gift certificates, music downloads, and hundreds of other prizes. Or, build up your points for bigger prizes in your Lightspeed Points Account.

MyPoints — This is a site which rewards you points for online activity such as reading emails, taking surveys, signing up for offers and so forth. When I was doing this, I mostly just read the emails and clicked on the links and slowly accumulated points. You won’t get rich quickly doing this, but you can earn enough points by reading emails to get a few free gift cards each year.

Swagbucks- Take the surveys and you can rack up more points towards gift cards and other items. Just another great way to earn Swagbucks. I check on the Trusted Surveys box EVERY day to see if there are any that I qualify for. You get 1 Swagbuck just for checking. I've made 600 Swagbucks in the past week just with surveys.

2. Earn Money for Searching/Using the Web

Do you read email, search the web or purchase things online? Well then, you definitely should be earning points and cashback for doing so. Here are some of my favorite ways to earn money and prizes for doing things I already do online. I’ve been paid consistently by each of these websites and would highly recommend them:

SwagBucks — Earn points for searching the web. These points can be redeemed towards prizes or gift cards.
MyPoints — Earn points for reading emails. These points can be redeemed towards gift cards and more.

Inbox Dollars — Earn points for reading emails. These points can be redeemed towards gift cards, cash and more.

Cashback Programs — Earn cashback for making purchases online. The best ones are Shop at Home and Ebates.  If you are shopping online it makes sense to earn cash back on your purchases. You can use coupon codes and gift cards for your purchases as you usually would.

3. Sell Stuff
  • Sell toys or clothing that no longer fits on Craigslist
  • eBay: Buy and Sell on ebay.
  • Cash4Books — Sell Your Unused Books
  • Sell Handmade Items on Etsy ~ I have an Etsy account where I sell personalized embroidered baby items.
4. More Ideas~
None of these methods require you to pay anything to join. NEVER spend money on work at home businesses. If you are required to spend money it's a pretty good sign that the company is not legitimate.  You should not be paying them, they should be paying you :)

140 Kids Labels or Address Labels for $3.16 shipped

I was so excited to see this great idea from a reader (Thanks, Julie)! You can get 140 Kid Labels (or address labels, if you’d prefer) for only $3.16 shipped. These would be perfect to stick on folders, lunch boxes, school books, notebooks, sippy cups, snack bags and oh so much more!

Here’s how to create your labels:
  • Head to VistaPrint and choose the 140 Free Labels option.
  • Click on the Interested in More Designs? link and find the Kids Category.
  • Use the Advanced Editing option to change the font style and size.
Please note that VistaPrint is notorious for sending lots of emails once you purchase from them. I recommend that you either sign up with an email address which is not your primary email address, or that you unsubscribe right away.

I Just Cashed Out For Another $50 Gift Card From Amazon !

Swagbucks is one of my favorite sites to earn free Amazon gift cards.
If you aren't already a member? Join HERE (you get 30 swagbucks for registering)

Plus you can earn swagbucks several other ways:

  • Take the Daily Poll each day and earn 1 swagbuck = 30 swagbucks a month
  • Check to see if you have any trusted surveys each day and earn 1 swagbuck just for checking. Do surveys to earn even more (I did 2 surveys yesterday and earned 250 swagbucks total)
  • Click through the Swagbucks Special Offers each day (you don't need to do any of them) and earn 1 swagbuck = 30 swagbucks a month.
  • Search on Swagbucks throughout the day and earn swagbucks (I usually win once in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon and almost always once at night) = amount varies but easily could be 600 a month from searches.
  • Install the toolbar, each day you will wake up to 1 swagbuck for having the toolbar = 30 swagbucks a month.
  • Enter bonus codes which can be found on their blog, facebook page, twitter page, and widget. I would say you can get at least 50 swagbucks a week from codes = 200 swagbucks a month.
  • You can also trade-in old cell phones and/or old video games & consoles for swagbucks.
  • You should be able to easily earn 900 swagbucks per month (without doing surveys) which can be cashed in for 2 $5 Amazon gift cards or a $5 paypal payment (with 200 swagbucks left over). I highly recommend doing the surveys because they only take a few minutes and I've been awarded as much as 250 Swagbucks for a 15 minute survey!
Go on over here to join!
**I usually cash in my Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards. I then use them towards grocery items for my family. It lightens our grocery bill. I always choose items that ship free with $25 purchase so that I don't have any out of pocket costs!

Getting ready for baby? 2 Free Programs For You !

One of the first things I did when I found out that I was pregnant with the twins was to join the birth club on Babycenter. I loved the weekly newsletters they email out on the baby’s development and how big the babies had gotten.

But the thing I love the most is the bulletin boards. I loved being able to ask a group of people in the same life stages as me questions and get them answered quickly. This especially came in handy when I had pregnancy concerns. I also loved to read other people’s posts. It really helped to see that other women are going through the same thing as me.

So to get ready for baby, I suggest joining Babycenter.

If you are expecting a baby or had one recently I also recommend joining Enfamil Family Beginnings.  You will get some great mommy advice in addition to $250 in free gifts!  You can go on over here to join.

Stuff Your Mailbox With Freebies!

I LOVE getting my mail because almost every day there are a few samples, freebies and coupons waiting for me.  These samples help me stretch my grocery budget and give me more money at the end of the month to send towards paying off my family's debt.  One laundry detergent sample is a free load of clean clothes. I just got a free laundry sample and 3 snack samples on Saturday.  I know I'm a dork, but it gave me satisfaction to do that load of laundry and watch the twins enjoy their free snack.

My two favorite companies for getting samples are Freeflys and Healthy Summer Samples .  Go check them out when you get a chance :)
