Cooking With the Kids!

I really like to cook and since the twins are 3 now I've been trying to let them help out in the kitchen.  It's a great way to keep them out from in front of the tv and it helps us bond and have fun together!  I found a few kid friendly recipes to share and a few inexpensive kid's kitchen sets to share. If you have any other kid friendly recipes or tips~ feel free to share!

Muffin Tin Breakfast Sandwiches
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 3 Whole Eggs
  • 6 Cooked Sausage Patties (or 6 Slices Cooked Bacon)
  • 6 Slices Cheese
  • Biscuits or English Muffins
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Wisk together milk and eggs. Pour mixture equally into 6 greased muffin tins. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • Place egg, sausage or bacon and cheese slice onto cut biscuit or english muffin half. Top with other half.
  • Enjoy!

Fun Fruit Kabobs with Yogurt Dip
Ingredients:
  • Fruit – Try pineapple, banana, apple, strawberries, melon & grapes
  • 1/2 Cup Yogurt (Vanilla or strawberry are favorites in my home.)
  • 1/4 Cup Cool Whip
You will also need bamboo skewers. They are usually found in the kitchen utensil aisle of the grocery store.

Directions:
Rinse fruit. Cut into bite size pieces. Put 6 to 8 pieces of fruit on each skewer leaving room on the end to make them easy to hold. After all kabobs are assembled, combine yogurt and cool whip. Serve chilled with kabobs. Yummy!

Blind Taste Test
Let everyone have a chance to be the taster and the tester. Try a variety of foods from jelly and juice to pickles and popcorn. Avoid food that have an unpleasant taste. Be sure that you cut things into bite size pieces.
  • Gather your food selections.
  • Prepare food if necessary… cut fruit, place peanut butter on spoons, juice in small cups, etc.
  • Blindfold the “tasters”.
  • Begin giving the first “taster” a samples of the food item. If the first person guesses wrong then move onto the next player.
  • Once the food has been identified correctly start with a new item.
